Mama's Birthday

Today was mama dearest birthday, my present to her this year was a week off work so i have been doing her night job for her this week(cleaning a local office), which i have quite enjoyed. She also had a cuppa tea(Rooibos) in bed :D. We got off to a late start today so didn't end up biking out to Chester which i have started to do on Mon,Wed,Thurs,Sat & Sun, it is a 20 - 30min ride depending on the direction of the wind etc. So Mama and me drove out to Chester & Polly, I feed Chester checked their water bucket gave him a hug and a kiss and left them to it. I became a chauffeur for the day, We drove around all the 'good' op shops(good will shops) while mum browsed and enjoyed herself, i twiddled my thumbs(i don't tend to like rummaging, which is what you tend to do at op shops) But i do enjoy the driving. We had lunch at McD's and i had a yummy mocha, i think i am now quite hooked on them. We went to one op shop and i thought no i'll just wait in the car, but mum did end up dragging me in, and clever me locked the keys in the car oops! Just as well we have a knight in shining armour(My Uncle) who came to our rescue with a spare key :) Tomorrow is a *big* busy work day, but hopefully, if the weather is nice to me, i can spend the day out with Chester on Saturday. I will try to get some updated photos of the paddock and Chester, oh and i also brought a wormer so shall hopefully do that too. I am heading up to the Naki to spend a few days with a friend and help her out with her horse next week from Tues - Thurs so shant forget my camera so i can show off what we get up to :) her blog is here: A Kaimanawa Called Prince I am hoping to get Prince's feet trimmed, him ridden hard for a few days and teach him to canter and jump with a rider, he can do this just needs to build some confidence :) shall be fun, he is a small pony so will be a big difference from Chessie Bear :D

Paddocks

The driveway that i take Chester over to, to munch on some grass now we have run out of hay.
Blue Arrow: Old Paddock, apparently it is Maori land and Chester is no longer aloud on it
Red Arrow: Riding/Schooling Paddock
Yellow Arrow: Hill paddock i opened up for Chester the other day because i run out of hay
Green Arrow: Chester paddock he was in just before i opened up the hill paddock.
Red Arrow: Riding/Schooling Paddock

Bit off a odd post, but just so you know what i mean when i say old paddock, riding paddock etc.

Lambs - Chester & Me

The paddock that i take Chester into to get ready, At the moment has a Mummy Ewe and her twins, she hasn't got alot of milk but is building up slowly, so the farmer has to supplement feed them a little. I noticed that one of the Lambs was a bit wobbly so took him up to the house to get an extra feed the other lamb was doing well so i left it with his Mumma. This little fella in the pictures was the wobbly one. I took chester's cover off and hung it over my bike(yes i know crazy! i biked out to Chester around about 10km maybe a little extra in the rain and with a head wind, talk about brain dead lol, what we do for out ponies!).This made a little cave, nice shelter from the bitter wind. This little guy toddled over and snuggled into my bag which was in the 'cave'. oh so cute, sorry didn't get any pictures my camera was in my bag and i didn't want to disturb him.

I took Chester out on a short road ride just up to the corner and back, he got a little too excited and i was riding bareback so i really wasn't in the greatest place to deal with 'naughtiness'. I decided it was about time i got him into the groove again so i did some Clinton Anderson groundwork with him, he did quite well although to begin with he really didn't want to give up his union card :-P(just for you Clinton-ers out there) after we had gotten thru the lunging for respect stage one and two he was looking good :-) licking his lips and he brought his head down to so i quit while the going was good. I then decided to do some jefferies method, he did so well and i had a bit of an audience while i was doing this(some ppl where whipper snapping some grass from the side of the road, Also i had the local Hanoverian stud owners drive past, they certainly slowed down and had a good look) Chester was a little bit of a toad because he keep grabbing the lead rope and eating it, well atleast trying too, but besides that and a little pig-root it was great and we both enjoyed ourselves :-)

Chester tied up to our makeshift 'Patience Pole' i tied him up for about 30-40mins, to think about the lesson

After his time being tied up i gave him a feed and let him go and do his pony things :-)

Picture Post

Had a marvelous afternoon with my boy, just tootled around the paddock then up over the hill to find some grass, have just run out of hay :-( so am now daily taking a hike over the hill to some abundant grass on the next door neighbours driveway(they don't mind and actually quite enjoy Chester coming to visit).
